Can’t believe I’ve done 6 weeks at my new placement already – LOVING it!! SO much better than my last placement. It’s amazing what difference a timetable with helpful teachers makes, even if all my topics have been Biology and Chemistry so far!
Went out to lunch with another PGCE scientist, who is HATING her second placement. The school has amazing results, and my mum was pushing me to apply for the job there. I didn’t – split sites didn’t appeal and I just had a bad gut feeling about the school. Turns out they’ve had 25 members of staff leave this year. It’s a big school of 2000 pupils, but that’s nearly 20% of its staff!
Their amazing results are also fixed – anyone who isn’t going to get a grade C at GCSE is forced to take the BTEC, so they then get a C equivalent and don’t mess up the statistics!
Just 3.5 weeks of teaching to go, and few days of uni, then it’s all over!!
The guy who complained about me chatting? Well f*ck him! I found out the day after that the kids HATE him, and I’ve since just found out that my class of equal ability just whooped the asses off his class in the end of topic test, so I guess that means I did OK as a teacher. yay!
I also had an adorable note from a pupil saying the best thing about the topic was the teacher (me!) as she felt she could ask any question without feeling stupid. Awwwww.
